Alert: Diesel fuel spill being contained on Twin Lakes; no danger to the public.

Post Date:August 18, 2022 9:24 p.m.
At approximately 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 18, the fuel tank of a semi-tractor trailer sustained a puncture near 26th and Utica Avenue South in St. Louis Park. About 50 – 90 gallons of diesel fuel drained into the storm sewer and reached Twin Lakes in St. Louis Park. St. Louis Park and Hopkins fire departments, along with St. Louis Park utility and engineering staff, are on site with specialty equipment to contain fuel in the lake to prevent it from migrating further. The Minnesota Pollution Control Agency (MPCA) has been notified and is in contact with on-scene staff. There’s no danger to the public and every effort is being made to mitigate the damage. More information will be posted as it’s available.
