Boulevard tree pruning begins Jan. 10 in select neighborhoods

Post Date:January 06, 2023 2:01 p.m.

Ostvig Tree Care has been hired by the City of St. Louis Park for boulevard tree pruning work in parts of the Amhurst, Aquila, Cobblecrest, Minnehaha and Texa-Tonka neighborhoods in 2023. Tree pruning will start on Tuesday, Jan. 10, and will continue into the spring. Boulevard tree pruning is done at no cost to the adjacent property owner.

NOTE: The portions of private trees that overhang the road right of way will also be pruned, as needed for road and sidewalk clearance, and to reduce the likelihood of branch failure.

Routine pruning of public property trees is handled by city contractors and is typically done during the dormant months of January – March. The city uses a tree trimming rotational schedule to prune a portion of the city’s boulevard trees each year. View the tree trimming schedule map.

Pruning trees on private property

Pruning trees on private property is the responsibility of individual property owners. Property owners may only use tree services licensed by the City of St. Louis Park. The city licenses tree contractors to ensure they have adequate insurance and qualifications to perform safe and professional tree work. Pruning of trees is strongly recommended during tree dormancy (November – March). View a list of licensed tree service providers.
