The St. Louis Park City Council has selected Yolanda Farris to fill the at large A council vacancy. Farris will be sworn in at the Tuesday, Feb. 21, 2023, city council meeting to fill the remainder of the at large A term, until Jan. 2, 2024. The vacancy resulted from the resignation, effective Dec. 30, 2022, of At Large A Council Member Larry Kraft.
Farris is a peer recovery coach with Perspectives, Inc., a St. Louis Park-based residential support program for women in recovery and their children. She is a current member of the City of St. Louis Park Police Multicultural Advisory Committee and has lived in St. Louis Park since 2013.
In her application for the council vacancy, Farris wrote, “My connection to this city is the underprivileged communities who have many struggles with mental health and addiction. My abilities to connect and integrate underprivileged communities have been invaluable in working with community leaders and advocates.”
Farris was selected from an initial pool of 24 applicants for the council vacancy, following two rounds of interviews conducted by the city council.
