If you don’t treat your ash tree(s) this summer, they likely will be killed by emerald ash borer (EAB) in the next few years and require removal per city ordinance. EAB is increasing rapidly in the area.
Through Rainbow Treecare, the city is offering St. Louis Park residents a discounted rate to treat their ash trees. Treatments are very effective on healthy trees and typically are much less expensive than the cost to remove a tree. An average size ash tree (20 inches in diameter) costs about $134 to treat every two years, and removing the same tree would cost at least $1,200. You could treat this tree for 17 years for the same cost as removal.
Visit the emerald ash borer page for more information about EAB.
