Proclamation
The proclamation reads:
Whereas Latine communities are an integral part of the diversity that makes St. Louis Park a great place to experience life; and
Whereas this month includes the independence day celebrations of several Latin American countries like Costa Rica, Chile, Belize, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico and Nicaragua; and
Whereas the diverse cultures and perspectives of Latine communities have enriched the social fabric of our city and state; and
Whereas Latine entrepreneurs, educators, and community leaders have helped create a more just and inclusive community for all; and
Whereas this month recognizes and celebrates the accomplishments and struggles of Latines in the face of continued inequity, racism, and xenophobia; and
Whereas this month is an opportunity for our city to continue our commitment to equity and inclusion.
Now, therefore let it be resolved that the mayor and city council, do hereby proclaim September 15, 2023 through October 15, 2023 Latine Heritage Month in the City of St. Louis Park.
