City receives grant to help manage stormwater

Post Date:March 22, 2024 11:00 a.m.

The city recently received grant funding from the Clean Water Land and Legacy Amendment to help residents manage stormwater by installing rain gardens on their properties. Rain gardens are a great way to help manage stormwater runoff and filter out pollutants before the water reaches our local waterbodies.

In partnership with Metro Blooms and the Conservation Corps of Minnesota, the city can assist up to 40 St. Louis Park homeowners with the design and installation of rain gardens. Homeowners are responsible for paying an upfront $50 consultation cost to Metro Blooms for the rain garden design. The Conservation Corps of Minnesota crews will construct the rain gardens in summer 2024, and homeowners will do the finishing touches by installing the plants.

Interested residents should apply online by April 5. Visit the Rainwater Rewards page for more information and the application.

Note: If more than 40 applications are received, a lottery will be conducted to select those that will receive grant funds.
