(Update 9.3.2024) We at the city want to acknowledge the impact of the Sept. 1 Park Tavern incident to our community. We extend our condolences to the family and friends of those who were killed and injured, and to the many people who witnessed this traumatic event. We know the St. Louis Park community will support one another in the aftermath of this tragedy.

(Update 9.2.2024) Some have inquired about different reports of numbers of people injured in this incident. The release from the St. Louis Park Police Department on Sept. 1, 2024, stated the facts as they were known at the time. This continues to be an active investigation. The St. Louis Park Police Department would like to hear from any others who may have witnessed or were injured in the incident. Anyone injured who hasn't yet been interviewed can call 952.924.2165 and leave their full name and contact information along with their connection to the incident. An investigator will call them back. Those who witnessed all or part of the incident and captured video or photos can submit them online to the police department. (9.1.2024; updated 9.3.2024 to include Golden Valley as an assisting agency) On Sept. 1, 2024, just after 8 p.m., St. Louis Park police and fire personnel responded to a reported incident at Park Tavern, 3401 Louisiana Ave. S., St. Louis Park, of a vehicle being driven into the outside patio area. Two people are dead with three injured. Surveillance footage shows the male driver entered the Park Tavern parking lot and did not enter Park Tavern. He attempted to park, then drove into the outside patio at Park Tavern. The male driver is under arrest for criminal vehicular homicide. The Minnesota State Patrol is on scene doing accident reconstruction. Other assisting agencies include the Golden Valley, Hopkins, Minnetonka and Wayzata police departments and the Hennepin County Sheriff’s Office. The scene remains active and anyone with information is asked to call 952.924.2618. This is an active and ongoing investigation of the St. Louis Park Police Department.
