Large police presence: Sept. 21, 2025

Post Date:September 22, 2025 9:00 a.m.
On Sept. 21, 2025, at 7:38 p.m. St. Louis Park police responded to a report of shoplifting at 5800 Cedar Lake Road, St. Louis Park. Officers were told that one of the items stolen was a knife removed from its packaging. When a security officer tried to stop one of the two suspects, he fled and threw items at the security officer. When St. Louis Park police officers caught up to the suspect, he did not immediately follow instructions. Due to the suspect's possession of a knife and attempt to flee the scene, there was a larger police presence than usual for a shoplifting call. The adult male suspect who fled was arrested for outstanding warrants including a 1st degree burglary felony warrant and taken to Hennepin County Jail. He was also charged for misdemeanor theft in this incident. A female suspect was briefly detained and released. No one was injured during the incident. This is an active and ongoing investigation of the St. Louis Park Police Department.
