On Nov. 2, 2025, at 12:42 p.m. an adult male caller told St. Louis Park police dispatch that he was suicidal, armed with a firearm and was going to run out into traffic or shoot himself near his apartment in the area of the 8100 block of Hwy 7. First arriving officers located the male in the median of Highway 7. Initially the male was uncooperative, claimed to have a pistol and would not show his hands. A large police presence was necessary to close Highway 7, safely contain the subject and allow for an opportunity to de-escalate the situation. On duty crisis negotiators were able to de-escalate the subject who surrendered without incident at approximately 1 p.m. There were no physical injures, and the subject was transported to the hospital for evaluation.
