On May 5, 2026, at approximately 3:30 p.m., the St. Louis Park Police Department received information from Benilde-St. Margaret’s School in St. Louis Park about a former student who reported to school officials receiving a series of "confusing" text messages from another former student. One message referenced the acronym “BSM” and another message included a photo of a toy gun.

While no explicit or direct threats were made toward the school or any individuals, the St. Louis Park Police Department took proactive steps to ensure community safety. St. Louis Park police officers contacted another law enforcement agency to conduct a welfare check on the individual who sent the messages, then followed up for additional perspective and information.

Based on these checks, no credible threats were identified toward Benilde-St. Margaret’s School or other individuals or organizations. The individual who sent the texts has appropriate family support in place and no access to firearms.

The St. Louis Park Police Department takes all reports of concerning behavior seriously and continues to work closely with schools and partner agencies to assess and respond to potential safety concerns.
