Project updates

Construction for the Aquila Elementary School expansion started in spring 2025.

Construction hours are limited to the following:

  • Monday – Friday: 7 a.m. – 7 p.m.
  • Saturdays, Sundays and holidays: 9 a.m. – 7 p.m.

Project background

St. Louis Park Public Schools received city council approval to amend the conditional use permit (CUP) for Aquila Elementary School to expand the existing building to the north. The expansion adds a new kindergarten wing, learning commons and flex space that will also function as a storm shelter. The addition provides added space for the school's current student population.

Public meetings

  • Sept. 11, 2024 – neighborhood meeting 
  • Sept. 18, 2024 – public hearing at planning commission
  • Oct. 7, 2024 – approved at city council
