Project background
Project for Pride in Living (PPL) owns and manages this three story, 60-unit affordable apartment building at 6027 37th St. W. The building will include studio, one, two and three-bedroom apartments, and all units in the apartment building will be affordable at a range from 30% area median income (AMI) to 60% AMI. The building is also certified under the Enterprise Green Communities program.
Union Congregational Church previously owned the land. The church ay 3700 Alabama Ave. S. renovated their existing sanctuary and narthex and preserved the 1940s church building while making it more welcoming and accommodating.
Public meetings
The development needed to subdivide the property and amend the comprehensive plan and zoning designations.
- Jan. 7, 2020 — Union Church and PPL held the first neighborhood meeting at the site.
- March 10, 2020 — Union Church held a second neighborhood meeting and presented revised project plans to the public.
- June 3, 2020 — Planning commission held an online public hearing on the applications and recommended that city council approve the applications.
- June 15, 2020 — City council approved the comprehensive plan amendment and plat applications and held a first reading of the PUD ordinance.
- July 6, 2020 — City council adopted the planned unit development ordinance.
