Trees play an important role in the health of our community. They improve air quality, provide shade, manage stormwater, create habitats for wildlife and capture carbon dioxide from the air, helping to stabilize our climate. Plus, they are beautiful to look at, fun to climb and create special memories.

To recognize the importance of trees, the City of St. Louis Park launched the M.V.Tree (most valued tree) contest in June! Everyone in St. Louis Park was welcome to nominate a tree. Nominations closed July 31.

The 2025 St. Louis Park M.V.Tree is... the Bur Oak on West 24th Street!

This tree was nominated by a group of young neighbors who wanted to show appreciation for the beloved majestic tree that “reminds us of a friendly, royal dragon that protects our neighborhood.” The M.V.Tree will be recognized at the city council meeting on Oct. 6.

Thank you to everyone who participated in the city’s first M.V.Tree contest. Over 30 nominations were received, four finalists were chosen, and over 400 residents voted to determine the winner! You can view all of the finalist stories and pictures below:
