The ROC (Recreation Outdoor Center) is a multi-use outdoor recreational facility located on the campus of The Rec Center.

The facility is used as a covered ice rink in the winter months for hockey, open public skating, broomball and other special skating events. In the spring, it can be converted to a covered, turfed field for baseball, softball, soccer and lacrosse, as well as special events such as the annual spring egg hunt. During the summer, a dry, concrete floor provides space for a variety of other special events from weddings to movies in the park, to graduation parties.

Outdoor skating is available at the ROC on select dates and times mid-October through the beginning of March, weather permitting. Visit the public ice skating and hockey page to view days and hours.

Facility rental information

The ROC has three different rental opportunities depending on the time of year – turf rental, dry floor rental and ice arena rental. The facility rental space measures 200 feet by 85 feet and includes bleacher seating for 450. Call 952.924.2540 to reserve your event.

Roller skate at the ROC party rental – NEW

May 14 – Sept. 25, 2026

Rent the dry floor of the ROC for a roller-skating party for your upcoming birthday party, team celebration or for family fun! Families, organizations or groups can reserve the ROC exclusively for private parties. Each rental includes two hours of skating/exclusive use of the ROC, 30 roller skates in youth and adult sizes, and tables and chairs for up to 30 people.

Ice arena rental

Rent the outdoor ice arena for birthday parties, celebrations and company or school events. Up to 15 rental skates are included with private ice rental.

Plan your wedding or next event at the ROC. The outdoor facility accommodates up to 700 people for wedding receptions, Bar and Bat Mitzvah parties, company events, birthday parties and large-scale gatherings. The facility rental includes a public announcement (PA) system. There is a $75 food and beverage fee for events over 100 people, and a $300 refundable damage deposit.

ShamROC Ice Bowling

March 14, 1 – 5 p.m.

Have you ever wondered what it's like to bowl on ice? You're in luck! Sign up for the annual ShamROC Ice Bowling event! Bow four frames to win fabulous prizes, and stay for food, drinks, music and fun. Register your team of four and secure your timeslot. Lions Club Egg Hunt

April 4, 10 a.m.

Participants will hunt for candy and special eggs in separate age categories. Each participant will receive a bag to collect their goodies. Bring your camera for a picture with the St. Louis Park Bunny! Prizes will be awarded for the coloring contest for ages 8 and under. Pick up a color sheet at The Rec Center or download it when you register. Bring your completed masterpiece to the event. The event is sponsored by the St. Louis Park Lions Club. The event is for ages 3 – 8. Egg hunt will begin promptly at 10:15 a.m.

Fee: $6 per person, no fee for supervising adult
