On Saturday, Oct. 28, 138 trees were planted along Minnetonka Boulevard from Quebec Avenue South east to Webster Avenue South. This stretch of Minnetonka Boulevard has not had a solid canopy of trees since the early 1980s when American elm trees framed this corridor.

On Saturday, Oct. 28, the St. Louis Park Police Department held a Drug Takeback Day to collect unwanted prescription drugs. The event provided a safe way for anyone with unused or expired drugs to dispose of them.

Demolition for the former McGarvey Coffee site commenced Oct. 17, 2017. The site, which was purchased by the St. Louis Park EDA in 2015, will be developed into a mixed-use, mixed-income creative community with 299 dwelling units, a 100-room hotel, retail, and various other amenities.

At its Monday, October 2, regular meeting, the St. Louis Park City Council passed a resolution requesting the St. Louis Park Charter Commission provide recommendations to the city council regarding two possible charter amendments about municipal elections.
