Through the new Cart Art in the Park contest, members of the St. Louis Park community submitted original artwork that reflects the theme of organics recycling to be displayed on organics carts at multifamily drop-sites. Residents living in apartments, townhomes and condos can sign-up to use these carts to send their food scraps to a composting facility instead of throwing them in the trash.

2025 winning artists

The first-place winner is Meg Alles, whose design features a bright color palette to showcase different items that folks may choose to compost, a practice which has reduced the amount of garbage that her family throws out. The second-place winner is Joan Hughes, a long-time resident of St. Louis Park, whose design depicts a compost bin that wants to be fed compostable materials. Joan’s design is featured at four of the drop-sites. View Joan's second-place artwork.

The third-place winner is Luisa Markham, age 7, who lives, plays and goes to school in the city. She described her art, “I used my special markers. I didn’t use anything to help.
