Human Rights Commission
The St. Louis Park Human Rights Commission advises city council on how to ensure equal opportunity and participation in housing, employment, public service, public accommodations and education. The commission consists of 10 regular voting members — one is an attorney, one is appointed by the school board and two are youth member.
The commission encourages all members of our community to:
- Teach tolerance and respect for all
- Share insights and experiences
- Participate in cultural diversity activities
- Communicate across cultures
Meetings
Meetings are usually held the third Tuesday of the month at 6 p.m. at city hall.

Human Rights Award
The Human Rights Award is facilitated by the St. Louis Park Human Rights Commission. The award recognizes individuals, groups, organizations or businesses that have made an outstanding contribution toward increasing understanding and cooperation between people of different backgrounds in St. Louis Park.
How to apply
Nominations/applications for the 2026 Human Rights Award will be available in early 2027.

Diversity lens
The human rights commission developed the diversity lens and the accompanying diversity lens brochure(PDF, 4MB). Valuing individual diversity means reaching beyond stereotypical views of individuals and using the strengths and different perspectives that each person offers. The diversity lens is not just a reflection of you or me, but the collective us in our community and all of our values.
Reporting hate crimes or discrimination
A bias or hate crime is criminal conduct committed because of the victim's race, religion, national origin, sex, age, disability or characteristics identified as sexual orientation. Call the St. Louis Park Police Department at 952.924.2618 if you are the victim of or witness to a hate crime.
