On Feb. 9, 2026, at 9:35 p.m. an officer on routine patrol near Excelsior Boulevard and Alabama Avenue South in St. Louis Park saw a vehicle that had been stolen from Minneapolis. After losing track of the vehicle briefly, another officer located it as it entered the residential area north of Minnetonka Boulevard and east of Hwy. 100. The officers turned on his lights and siren to try and stop the vehicle, which then turned east onto 29th Street and out of view of the officer. When the officer caught up to the vehicle, he found that it had crashed into a tree near 29th Street and Raleigh Avenue South. While the driver had fled, an adult female passenger was located near the vehicle with minor injuries from the crash and stating that she had swallowed narcotics. She was transported to the hospital. Officers searched for the suspect with the assistance of neighboring agencies, K9s, the State Patrol helicopter and a drone. The search briefly led officers to a home in the 2800 block of Salem Avenue South, where there were indications that the suspect may have tried to enter the front porch of the home. Out of an abundance of caution officers searched the home with the owner but did not locate the suspect. This remains an open and active investigation of the St. Louis Park Police Department.
